Events

Every event your site's tracker sent in the period — page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, cookie-banner choices and conversions, paid or not — over time and broken down by type, page, outbound site, source and conversion, with the events of visits an ad brought listed one by one.

Updated October 26, 2026

Events is every event your site's tracker sent in the period: page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, cookie-banner choices and conversions, paid or not. A chart with four figures shows them over time, a Breakdown cuts them by type, page, outbound site, source and conversion, and a list underneath shows the events of visits an ad brought, one row each.

Where it sits

Events is the last item of the rail's Traffic group, after Connections. It shows everything the site received, before any network, campaign or browser is picked.

The header carries the group name, the site's name, a "Docs" link (this page, in a new tab), the reload button with the time of the last load, and the period control (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month, or a custom range; see Time periods). The period is the only filter for the chart and the Breakdown.

On a one-site workspace, the workspace home ends its Events card on All events, which opens this screen.

Every event is kept on every plan. The plan's window is how far back you can look (seven days on Free). When a Free workspace has used its month's event allowance, the figures stop at that instant and a banner above every screen of the site says so; the events after it are kept and show on a larger allowance. Paid plans are billed for what goes over. See Billing.

Events over time

The first card, titled "Events over time", with the bucket in its header — "15-minute volume" on a day, "2-hour volume" on a week, "6-hour volume" on thirty days. Four figures head it, each defined on hover:

FigureWhat it counts
EventsEvery event your site sent in the period — the events the workspace home and your plan count
From your adsThe events of visits an ad brought, with "N% of all events" under it
Outbound clicksClicks on links to other sites, with "N% from ads" under it. The tracker records no other click — not buttons, not your own links
Conversion eventsEvery conversion event your tag sent, with "N primary · N secondary" under it. A conversion can be sent more than once; Conversions counts one per id

Each figure is compared with the previous period: "+18.4%", "−7.1%", or "new" when the previous window had none; hovering names the baseline ("vs 1,204 · Jul 27 – Aug 2"). Changes carry no colour. When the previous period does not fit in your plan's window, the change reads "no baseline" — on Free, Today and Yesterday compare, and longer presets do not; see Time periods.

The chart draws three fills: page views, then page views and scrolls, then — lightest — everything else. Its footnote: "The lightest fill is everything else: outbound clicks, conversions, cookie-banner choices. Changes are against the previous period, never a grade." Hovering gives the bucket's time (UTC) and its counts; a quiet bucket is a zero. The card links to Conversions.

Breakdown

Beside the chart, a card titled "Breakdown" ("Every event, all visits") with five tabs. Every tab counts every event of the period, from ads or not.

TabOne row isColumns
Typesan event type — see the typesType, Events, Share, From ads
Pagesa page path, ranked; "Top 50 of 312 pages" when not all are shown#, Page, Events, From ads
Outbound sitesa site your outbound links lead to#, Site, Events, From ads
Sourcesan ad network that brought a visit, plus one "Not from an ad" rowVisit, Events, Share, and a bar
Conversionsa conversion kind and nameKind (Primary, Secondary), Name ("no name" when none was sent), Events

From ads is the share of the row's events that came from visits an ad brought. Share is the row's part of every event; under half a point reads <1%.

Pages shows paths only, never the query; a path segment that reads as an id (an order code, a number) is shown as {id}, so every order is not its own page. Outbound sites shows the site a link leads to, never the rest of the link. Sources lists one row per ad network; every other visit is one row, not split by channel. On Conversions, the footnote reads "Events, not conversions: an order can report its conversion more than once, so its value is read once per id, on Conversions." A primary row opens Conversions.

The types

The Types tab lists one row per type, largest first, with its mark (a conversion wears the trophy); a conversion is two rows, primary and secondary. Hovering a type shows its sentence:

RowIts sentenceWhat sends it
Page viewA page loaded. Each page load, and each route change of a single-page app
ScrollA reader reached 25, 50, 75 or 100% of a page. Up to four per page. One per mark per page view
Outbound clickA click on a link to another site.A click on a link whose host differs from the page's (another sub-domain of your site counts)
ConsentA choice made on your cookie banner.Your consent_update call. An observed signal; it gates nothing
Conversion · primaryA purchase or a lead your site reported. Counted once per id on Conversions.Your conversion call with type set to primary
Conversion · secondaryA secondary goal your tag reported. The same call with type set to secondary

A type without a name shows its raw key. Hovering From ads states the count: "N of these came from visits an ad brought." Only the Conversion · primary row opens anything: Conversions, same period. Its footnote: "Every event your site sent, the rows the workspace home counts. A primary conversion opens Conversions, where it is counted once per id."

What sends each type: Install the tracker and The tracking API.

What is missing

Under the two cards, one line for each thing the period lacks, each with its link: "No primary conversion arrived in this period." — Report your conversions; "No cookie-banner choice arrived in this period." — Report the banner choice; "No event came from a visit an ad brought." — Tag your ads. When nothing is missing, there are no lines.

Events from your ads

The list: every event of a visit an ad brought, newest first. Its header carries the events mark, "Events from your ads" and "N outside ads are counted above, never listed".

Tabs. All, Page views, Scrolls, Outbound clicks, Conversions, Consent — each with its count of events from ads. A tab lists only that type.

Search. "Search a page path" narrows the list to events sent from a matching page. With no match: "No event of a visit an ad brought was sent from a page matching …".

Columns, each defined on hover; a column picker shows or hides them (After the click is hidden at first):

ColumnWhat it shows
EventThe row number, the event's mark and name ("Conversion · primary"), and when it arrived ("Oct 5 · 09:12:04", UTC)
DetailWhat the event carried: "Full page load" or "In-app navigation", the scroll depth, the site a link leads to, the conversion's name ("no name"), or the banner choice ("Accepted all", "Rejected all", "Custom choice", "Choice not stated")
PageThe page the event was sent from — its path, never the query
CampaignThe network's logo and the campaign; opens the Overview for that campaign
After the clickHow long after the visit landed the event arrived ("+4m 12s")
SessionThe session's short id; opens the session
VisitorThe browser's short id; opens the visitor. A dash when the browser kept no id
ValueThe value a conversion declared, in its own currency

Pages. Under the list: "Show rows" (10, 25, 50, 100), "1–10 of N", and the arrows. On Free, the list shows its first 10 rows, then a card: "N more events in this period." — "Your plan reads the first rows. The numbers above already count them all."

The footnote: "Every event of a visit an ad brought, newest first. Open a row to read its session beside the table. An outbound click shows the site it leads to, never the rest of the link."

With no event from ads in the period: "No event of a visit an ad brought in this period."

Event details

Clicking a row opens "Event details" beside the list, titled with the event's mark and name, with "Event 4 of 1,204" and arrows to walk to the previous or next row.

The event: At (UTC), After the click, Page, and what the type carried — Navigation, Depth, Leads to ("not readable" when the link could not be read), Choice, or a conversion's Name ("not sent") and Value ("No value declared").

Its session · last 30 days: Session ("Session 3", and "· 4 on this browser" when the browser has more), Source (the network), Campaign, Duration (time · pages · events), Conversion (a green trophy with the value or "Completed" and the time after the click, "Engaged" for a secondary conversion, or "none"), Visitor (or "no browser id"). A session older than that reads "This session falls outside the drill's window (last 30 days)."

"Open session" at the foot opens Sessions.

When there is nothing to show

With no event in the period: "No event received in this period." — "Every page view, scroll, outbound click, cookie choice and conversion your site sends is counted here." When the page cannot load them: "The events didn't come back.", with a prompt to read again from the top of the page.

What this screen does not do

  • It lists only events of visits an ad brought. Every other event is counted in the chart and the Breakdown, never listed.
  • No engagement reading. Scrolls and clicks are volumes; nothing here says a page was read or a visit engaged.
  • Only a primary conversion opens Conversions. No other type has a screen of its own.
  • No network or campaign filter on the chart and the Breakdown; they count the whole site.
  • No verdict on a change. A sign and a size, no red or green.
  • No allowance figure. The rail's meter, the banner and the billing page carry it.
  • No choice of comparison. The figures always compare with the previous period.
  • No full outbound link. An outbound click shows only the site it leads to.

Questions

Why is the primary conversion count not the one on the Conversions screen?
Here a conversion is counted every time it fires, like any other event. Conversions counts one per id, and only those tied to a visit an ad brought. The Types row says so, and opens Conversions.
Why are there more scrolls than page views?
A scroll is sent when a reader reaches 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent of a page, once per mark per page view, so one page view can carry up to four.
Does the total match the Events figure on the workspace home?
On a one-site workspace, yes: both count every event of the site in the window. With several sites, the home adds them together and this page shows one.
Why are some events counted but not listed?
The list shows only events of visits an ad brought. Events of other visits are counted in the figures and the breakdown; the list's header says how many.
What does From ads mean for a scroll or a click?
That the event belongs to a visit an ad brought. It says nothing about the event itself: a scroll is from ads when the visit it happened in came through an ad.
