Workspace settings

Rename the workspace, read its erasure ledger and, as its owner, delete it — with the facts card it shares with the Members page.

Updated October 26, 2026

General is the first of the workspace's three settings pages, and it is for owners and admins. It holds the workspace name, the ledger of every erasure instruction given on this workspace, and, for the owner only, the control that deletes the workspace. The card beside them states the plan, your role, the creation date and the workspace ID.

Access

The page is the General row of the rail's Settings group, beside Members and Billing. Its header carries the eyebrow Settings, the title General and the line Identity of followed by the workspace's name. The Docs link opens this page in a new tab.

Only an owner or an admin can open it. A member who follows the URL is sent back to the workspace home, and a member's rail shows no Settings group.

The sections sit on the left on a wide screen and the facts card on the right; on a phone the card follows the sections.

Identity

The section's line reads How this workspace is named for everyone in it. One card, one field.

FieldRule
Workspace nameRequired. Between 2 and 128 characters, trimmed.

The help under the field says where the name goes: Shown in the switcher, the breadcrumb and every email about this workspace. The card's footer notes that it is Visible to every member of the workspace.

Save changes stays disabled until the field differs from the saved name, reads Saving… while it runs, and a Saved mark appears beside it when the new name is stored. If it fails, the reason appears in a red notice at the top of the card. The personal workspace can be renamed like any other.

Erasure

The section's line reads Every erasure instruction on this workspace, and what became of it. It is a ledger, not a form: the page lists instructions, it does not take them. An instruction to erase one browser's data is given from that site's settings, on its Privacy tab, and the same ledger appears there filtered to the one site. See Privacy, retention and erasure.

Nothing is deleted on a schedule or to make room. Retention is the default on every plan; an erasure instruction outranks it.

The ledger

The card is titled Erasure instructions, with N on record at the far end of its bar when there are rows. Rows are newest first, up to 100.

Each row names its subject: Browser followed by the visitor ID, or This workspace for an instruction that covers the whole workspace. Its status is a pill at the right, and the line under the subject says what happened and when.

StatusPillLine under the subject
PendingInstructedInstructed date · runs on the next pass
DoneErasedErased date
FailedNot completedA line saying the failure has reached us and the instruction is retried

Instructed is a waiting state: the instruction is recorded and not yet carried out. Erased means nothing is left for that row, and its date is when that was confirmed. Not completed means the instruction failed and is being retried.

Two states the card can show instead of rows:

  • No erasure instructions on this workspace — a real answer. Under it: Every event stays until someone asks us to remove it. When that happens, the instruction and what became of it appear here.
  • The ledger could not be read just now — the read failed; it is not an empty ledger. Reload to try again.

A row does not show the number of attempts or the error behind a failure. The instruction recorded when a workspace is deleted does not appear here either, since its members are gone with it.

Danger zone

Shown to the owner only; an admin does not see the section. Its line reads Owner only. Acts on the whole workspace, for every member.

The card has one row, Delete this workspace, in one of two forms:

  • On the personal workspace there is no control. The row explains: This is your personal workspace — it can’t be deleted. It’s where the product lands when nothing else exists.
  • On any other workspace the row reads Permanently removes the workspace and every membership in it. Its sites and their data stop being reachable in the product. and carries a Delete workspace button.

Deleting takes two presses: the first replaces the button with Delete followed by the workspace's name permanently, next to a Cancel link; the second deletes. On success you land on the app's start page.

One refusal can come back as a notice in the row. When the workspace has a live subscription, it reads: This workspace has an active subscription. Cancel it first in Billing → Manage billing, then delete the workspace — otherwise Stripe keeps billing you for a workspace that no longer exists.

A deletion removes the workspace, its memberships, its sites and their memberships. Its events are erased afterwards, on an erasure instruction recorded at the same time.

About this workspace

The card on the right states what this workspace is. The same card sits on the Members page.

FactWhat it shows
PlanThe plan's name in a plain outline badge: Free, Starter, Solo, Growth, Agency or Enterprise.
Your roleOwner or Admin, written in full.
CreatedThe day the workspace was created, in UTC.
Workspace IDThe identifier, with a copy control beside it. It is what a support thread asks for.

Under the card, Help carries one door, Contact support, which opens the support form.

What this page does not do

  • It does not take an erasure instruction. Instructions are given from a site's settings, on its Privacy tab; this page shows what became of them.
  • Deleting a workspace does not cancel its subscription for you; it is refused while the subscription lives.
  • There is no control to hand the workspace to another owner. A workspace has exactly one owner.
  • There are no per-workspace notification preferences. Email preferences belong to the account; see Notifications.

Questions

Who can rename a workspace?
An owner or an admin. A member can view everything in the workspace and changes nothing, so the settings pages send a member back to the workspace home.
Why does my personal workspace have no delete button?
The personal workspace is the one you received at signup. It can be renamed like any other workspace, but it cannot be deleted, and the page says so instead of showing a control.
Deleting was refused because of an active subscription. What now?
A workspace with a live subscription is not deleted. Cancel the subscription first from Billing, with Manage billing, then delete the workspace.
Why does an erasure instruction read Instructed rather than Erased?
Instructed means the instruction is recorded and waiting to be carried out. It reads Erased once nothing is left to remove.
