Plans and billing
What the Billing screen shows, what each plan opens, how to read the monthly event meter, and what happens past the allowance.
Updated October 26, 2026
Billing is where a workspace reads what it is on today — the plan, its four allowances and this month's event meter — and where it changes plan or billing cycle. Every event is kept forever on every plan; a plan sets how far back you can look, how many events a month are included, and how many sites and seats the workspace may hold. Payment itself happens on Stripe's own pages.
Where it is
Billing is the last row of the rail's Settings group, after General and Members. The page opens on its header — Billing under the Settings eyebrow — and one line naming the workspace: "What Acme is on today, and what each plan opens up." The page has the same shape as Workspace settings: the sections on the left and the "About this workspace" card on the right. The rail's foot card — the workspace, its plan and the same meter — stays on this screen as on every other; see The rail. Owners and admins can open the page and start a checkout or open the Stripe portal; a member is sent back to the workspace home but can read the meter in the rail.
At the top, two notices can appear:
- Payment confirmed — shown when Stripe returns you from a checkout. If the plan below still reads the old one, reload in a few seconds.
- Checkout cancelled — nothing was charged and nothing changed.
A third notice, August 2026 has reached this plan's event allowance (with the month in progress), stays for as long as the month is over its allowance; it is described under Over the allowance.
Your plan
The first section, "Your plan", is introduced by the line "Every event is kept forever — a plan only sets how far back you can look." Its panel carries the plan's name and its monthly price ("€49 / month, HT"; "Free forever" on Free; "Custom terms" on Enterprise) — the monthly figure even on an annual subscription — one button, and four figures.
| Figure | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Events | Events arrived this calendar month, over the plan's monthly allowance ("31,402 of 50,000 in August 2026"), with a bar underneath. A month with no event yet reads "0 of 50,000". If the meter cannot be read, the cell shows the allowance alone, "50,000" over "a month", and no bar. |
| Window | How far back a period may reach, in days. |
| Seats | Occupied seats over the plan's cap ("3 / 5"). A seat is occupied by an accepted membership or by a pending invitation that has not expired. The figure links to Members. |
| Sites | How many sites the plan includes. |
Under the panel: "Metered hourly, updated 12m ago and back to zero on the 1st — collection itself is continuous and never capped." The meter is a monthly count in UTC; the "updated" fragment dates the last reading.
The button is Manage billing on a paid plan and Past invoices on a Free workspace that has bought before. Both open the Stripe customer portal. The button appears only for the owner of the billing account that pays for the workspace; anyone else sees "This workspace is billed by another account. Its owner manages the card, the billing address and the invoices." A Free workspace that has never bought shows neither. See Account billing for what a billing account is.
Change plan
The section titled "Change plan" carries a Monthly / Annual toggle, with the annual saving next to it: "2 months free on annual". It opens on the cycle the workspace already bills on, or on Monthly when there is no subscription. The annual price is the monthly price times ten, on every plan.
Four cards follow, two a row, one per plan you can buy on this page: Starter, Solo, Growth and Agency. Each shows its price on the selected cycle, a tagline, its capacity line and what it adds over the plan below it. The plan in force is marked Current. The control on the other cards depends on where you stand:
- On Free, each card offers Choose Starter, Choose Solo, and so on. The Starter button carries the accent, because it is the cheapest plan that unblurs.
- On Starter, Solo, Growth or Agency, each other card offers Switch to Growth, and so on. The difference is prorated.
- On Enterprise the four cards carry no control and none is marked Current — a change to that plan is arranged with us.
Free has no card: it cannot be bought. Enterprise closes the page as its own band — "Custom volume, dedicated support, an SLA and integrations built with you. Arranged with us directly — there is no self-serve price." — with a Talk to us button that opens an email to hello@intelligenceads.io.
The page ends on the tax line: "Prices are in EUR excluding tax. VAT is computed at checkout by Stripe, and EU businesses can enter a VAT number there."
The grid
The allowances per plan. Prices are per month, EUR, excluding tax; the annual figure is ten times the monthly one.
| Free | Starter | Solo | Growth | Agency | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price / month | €0 | €19 | €49 | €99 | €249 |
| Price / year | — | €190 | €490 | €990 | €2490 |
| Sites | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 10 |
| Events / month | 10,000 | 25,000 | 50,000 | 250,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Window | 7 days | 30 days | 92 days | 365 days | 730 days |
| Seats | 1 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 20 |
| Realtime | refreshes every 60 s | streams | streams | streams | streams |
| Unblurred values | — | yes | yes | yes | yes |
| Export, forecast, weekly digest | — | — | yes | yes | yes |
Enterprise is arranged directly, with no self-serve price: 100 sites, 100,000,000 events a month, a 3,650-day window and 500 seats, with every value unblurred and export, the forecast and the weekly digest included. What a month past its allowance costs is settled by its contract.
What Free shows. Every screen, every aggregate, the live feed and every drill page are open on Free. City and the browser's traits are shown. What Free blurs is the identifying detail: a connection's address is shown as a prefix ("12.34.x.x"), the name of the provider behind a connection is kept only on the first three rows of a list and locked on a single connection, a single session and every row of Realtime, the postal area and accuracy radius are withheld, how much one browser varied across the window is withheld, who else shares a connection is withheld, and the session log and the visitor and connection lists show their first ten rows. The Realtime map is the same on every plan; Free refreshes it every 60 seconds, a paid plan streams it.
What Starter opens. Every one of those values: the provider behind a connection and its complete address; who else shares that connection, and how a browser varies across the window; the full session log and the full Visitors and Connections lists; and the live map, streaming. What it buys less of than Solo is capacity, window and modules.
What Solo adds. "Three months of window, not thirty days", "The expected range, and what your traffic did against it" (the forecast), "CSV export" (see Export), "A second seat, and twice the events", and the weekly digest email. Growth and Agency add sites, seats, events and window on top of Solo, nothing else.
The event meter
The meter counts every event a workspace's sites sent in the current calendar month, in UTC. It counts past the allowance too; that is the point of showing both numbers. Collection continues whatever the meter says, on every plan.
It is back to zero on the 1st. An annual subscription gets exactly the monthly grid: one meter, one reset, one number on the panel.
Two emails go to the workspace's owners and admins, once per workspace and month:
- at 80% of the allowance, a heads-up while the month still has room to act in;
- when the allowance is crossed, what that means on this plan.
Both belong to the "plan allowance" category you can switch off under Notifications. Enterprise receives neither.
Over the allowance
Being over the allowance means one of three things, and the screen says which. The notice at the top reads "August 2026 has reached this plan's event allowance", then "31,402 events arrived this month, against an allowance of 10,000. Collection never stopped and nothing was discarded — every one of them is stored.", then a sentence that depends on the plan.
Free — held back from reads. "The dashboard reads up to Aug 2, 14:00 UTC." Events after that moment, to the end of the month, are stored but not readable. "A larger allowance opens the rest of the month at once. The rest of the month is already in your history." The hint under the Events figure turns to caution in this one state. A notice with the same title stands above the site's own screens, with a shorter body, and the same exit, linked to Billing for an owner or admin.
Starter, Solo, Growth, Agency — billed. "Nothing is withheld and nothing stops. The overflow is billed at €5 per 10,000 events, and never more in a month than the price of the next plan up." Every started block of 10,000 is counted whole. The month's extra is capped at the next plan's monthly price: €49 on Starter, €99 on Solo, €249 on Growth, and €249 on Agency, its own price. The extra is invoiced after the month closes, on its own invoice, separate from the subscription and on every cycle, and an email says what was invoiced and why. The meter bar stays the same color: being billed as the plan says is not a warning.
Enterprise — contractual. "Nothing is withheld and nothing stops. This month's volume is settled by your contract."
A workspace that moves to a larger allowance sees the held-back part of the month, and every earlier held month in its window, on the next page load.
The window
Retention is unlimited on every plan; the window is the lens, not the archive. A period may reach back as far as the window's first day — today minus the window in days, plus one, in UTC calendar days. A period that starts earlier is shortened to that day. Moving to a longer window reveals history that was always there, instantly. See Time periods for how a period is chosen.
Sites and seats
Both caps apply when something new is created, never to what already exists. Creating a site past the cap is refused with "Your plan includes up to 1 site. Upgrade to add more." Sending an invitation past the seat cap is refused, and a pending invitation holds its seat until it is accepted or expires.
A workspace that moves to a smaller plan keeps everything it holds. While it has more sites or more members than the plan includes, its product screens are replaced by a notice — "This workspace is over its plan's capacity." and "Nothing has been removed, and nothing here chooses for you — every site and every member is exactly where you left them." — that names the two ways out: remove a site or a member, or move to a plan that includes more. An owner or admin gets See plans; removing a site is the owner's, removing a member an owner's or admin's, and anyone else is told who can act. Settings and Billing stay reachable. See Members and Workspace settings.
Buying, changing and leaving a plan
From Free. Choosing a plan opens Stripe Checkout on the cycle shown. If you already own a billing account, the button first asks "Bill this workspace to" one of them or "A new card"; a workspace's payer is fixed for the life of its subscription, so this is the one moment to choose. On Stripe's page you can enter a promotion code and a VAT number; a billing address is required because tax depends on the country. Stripe returns you to Billing with the Payment confirmed notice.
From a paid plan. The cards' Switch to buttons and Manage billing both open the Stripe portal, where plan changes, cancellation, the payment method and invoice downloads live. A workspace that already pays cannot start a second checkout: "This workspace already has a subscription. Use “Manage billing” to change plan — Stripe prorates the difference." Canceling in the portal moves the workspace to Free, and the portal stays reachable as Past invoices. A card payment that fails does not drop the plan while Stripe retries the card. Every Stripe button reads "Opening Stripe…" while it works, and a refusal appears in red directly under it — "This workspace has no billing account yet. Choose a plan first.", "This workspace already bills monthly." or "Enterprise billing is arranged with us directly."
Moving to a smaller plan. The same portal. What the workspace holds stays in place — see Sites and seats.
Switching the cycle. On a paid plan, a line under the toggle reads "This workspace bills monthly." Moving the toggle to the other cycle offers Switch to annual billing — "€490 a year instead of €49 a month." — and a second step that states what happens to your money:
- monthly to annual: "Stripe charges you today — €490 for the year, less credit for the days of this month you have already paid — and the annual period starts now."
- annual to monthly: "You will not be charged today. What is left of the year you already paid stays on your account as credit and covers your monthly invoices until it runs out."
Both end on "Your plan does not change: Solo, and everything in it, stays exactly as it is." The step ends on a confirm button that repeats Switch to annual billing ("Switching…" while it works) and a Cancel link. The switch is immediate in both directions; afterwards the line reads "This workspace now bills annually. Stripe has the change, and the invoice for it is in your billing portal." The switch is offered only on a plan bought on this page; Free has no subscription to move and Enterprise's cadence is part of its contract.
What this screen does not do
- It shows no card field, no invoice list and no VAT line; Stripe's pages hold all three.
- It never starts a second subscription for a workspace that already pays.
- It never grades the traffic that spent the allowance. The notices state the boundary and stop.
- It never deletes an event, on any plan, because of the plan. The allowance holds back reads on Free and is billed on paid plans; collection is never stopped.
- It removes nothing on a downgrade, and chooses nothing for you.
- There is no trial. Free is the product with its identifying values blurred, and the cheapest plan that unblurs is the one the page recommends.
- Seats carry no price. A seat is a cap, never a meter.
- Nobody is refunded in cash on an annual-to-monthly switch; the unused part of the year becomes credit on the account.
Questions
- Does collection stop when a month passes the allowance?
- No, on any plan. Every event is accepted and kept. On Free the part of the month past the allowance is held back from reads until the plan changes; on Starter, Solo, Growth and Agency nothing is held back and the extra is billed; on Enterprise the contract governs it.
- If I upgrade mid-month, do the held-back events come back?
- Yes, at once. A larger allowance reopens the rest of the month, and every earlier held month, on the next page load.
- Is my data deleted after the window?
- No. Retention is unlimited on every plan. The window only sets how far back a period may reach, and moving to a longer window reveals history that was always there.
- Does an annual plan get an annual event allowance?
- No. The allowance stays monthly on an annual subscription, with the same meter and the same reset on the 1st. Any overage is invoiced monthly and separately.
- Can I delete a workspace that still has a subscription?
- No. Cancel the subscription first from Billing, with Manage billing, then delete the workspace.
